Bamako, Mali (PANA) - The Spanish government has offered Mali, through the World Food Programme (WFP), more than 327 million CFA francs to support the implementation of the 2022 National Food and Nutritional Response Plan in Mali, PANA learned from an official source.
This contribution will allow the WFP to provide emergency assistance for three months to more than 10,080 internally displaced people in the region of Mopti, in central Mali, said the Spanish ambassador to Mali, José Homero Gomez.
The WFP representative in Mali, Armand Ndimuru-Kundo, said his organization, in partnership with the Malian Food Security Commission (CSA) and with the support of Spanish cooperation, will combine emergency assistance to the affected population with capacity building in emergency preparedness and response.
He reassured them of their unconditional commitment and support to stand together against food and nutrition insecurity in Mali.
The Commissioner for Food Security, Redouane ag Mohamed, stressed that "this support comes at the right time to begin the lean season and support the Malian government's food security actions throughout the country.
