Brazzaville, Congo (PANA) - The Representative of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Congo, Suze Percy Filippini, announced on Wednesday that the Forum of Central African Parliamentarians on Food and Nutritional Security will meet in Brazzaville in October.
Filippini was speaking at a meeting with Isidore Mvouba, President of the National Assembly, who is also President of the Congolese Parliamentary Alliance for Food and Nutrition Security.
Organised by the Congolese Parliament, through the Parliamentary Alliance for Food and Nutrition Security, in partnership with UN agencies, it aims to encourage other Central African parliaments to create parliamentary alliance for food and nutrition security.
"As you know, Congo is the first country in the sub-region to have established this alliance. So, parliamentarians will come to learn from Congo because they think it is important to come to an older brother because they also want to create their alliances," said Filippini.
A preparatory workshop will be organized in mid-June with the support of FAO, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the World Food Programme (WFP) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
