15,000 transgender people in US military could be fired under Trump - Report

London, UK (PANA) -Donald Trump plans to ban transgender people from the US military as soon as he is installed in the White House, according to sources from British newspaper The Times.

Trump could do this through an ‘executive order’. This would dismiss all transgender military personnel for medical reasons, regardless of rank or experience, and ban new transgender recruits. 

About 15,000 active military personnel would be affected, at a time when the army is struggling to meet recruitment targets.

Transgender military personnel argue that the decision would result in a major loss of expertise and leadership within the US military, a gap that would take years to replace these soldiers.
